Today we explain steps that are important to follow when getting ready for closing as a seller.

  • Changing all your home utilities, discontinuing your newspaper subscriptions, and forwarding your mail.

  • Removing your electric fence control panels, if you have a dog!

  • You can take your electric panel and collars with you. If your new home has an underground electric fence it can automatically connect to it.

  • Clean up the yard

  • Notify your dry cleaning company

  • Make sure your dry cleaning company knows your new address, or that you are planning to stop using that specific company.

  • Make sure your house is cleaned out 100%

  • Never assume that the new owner will want your “extras” - such as paint, wood, and leftover tiles. Always check to see if they are interested, however, if they are not, you do need to get rid of it.

  • Make sure the oven and refrigerator are clean

  • All in all, leave your house the way you would want it!
